Free OpenSource Software @infosec.pub•Open-source firmware for Ingenic SoC IP cameras
1·6 months agoThis is awesome. I have a Cinnado D1 and almost stopped using it due to security concerns. Definitely trying this out.

cybersecurity@infosec.pub•Password managers less secure than promised
1·6 months agoDoes anyone smarter than me know if the same vulnerabilities in Bitwarden highlighted in the this also affect Vaultwarden?
Or is Vaultwarden more hardened and less concerned with certain compromises like backwards compatibility etc?

Italian Learning@lemmy.ml•What are the main ways that you practice Italian?
2·6 months agoI use a mixture of methods. I used to take a class several years ago
Now I tend to listen to Italian radio and podcasts on both the RaiPlay Sound and the Swiss RSI Play apps.
I do use Duolingo sometimes, but the Italian course is limited to the A2 level, so there’s a clear plateau and I only use it to continue to reinforce the basics. I does kind of help that it’s a bit mindless because it does build up that sill of not thinking about it.
There’s a number of virtual meetups on meetup.com that I occasionally try out, but I need to be more consistent with.
I also created an XMPP language exchange group at https://xmpp.link/#italian-language-exchange@chat.disroot.org?join if anyone wants to join.
Not sure if this group is still active, but I hope this gets some dialogue going!

Language Learning@sopuli.xyz•How's your language learning going this week? - Weekly thread
2·6 months agoHaven’t been diving too much into the study aspect of it lately because I started grad school last month, and that’s been taking up most of my time.
I did end up creating an XMPP public group for Italian-English language exchange and learning. It’s at https://xmpp.link/#italian-language-exchange@chat.disroot.org?join if anyone is interested.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Open Source App Blocking Focus App for Mac
1·7 months agoAfter I posted this, an app I use on my phone, Screen Zen, released a Mac version of their app. So I’m going to see how that ends up working out. Don’t think it’s open source, but It might do in the meantime.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Open Source App Blocking Focus App for Mac
1·7 months agoI hadn’t considered using shortcuts. I’ll explore what I can do with that. It would be nice to hit one button, have it set a timer, enable both these blocks, and turn on focus mode.

Vintage Lenses@viewfinder.pro•Help Needed: Vintage Sigma 28mm Front Element CleaningEnglish
1·7 months agoYeah, I imagine doing so would be much more trouble than it’s worth, but I figured I would ask and see what people had to say.
One one hand, I got the lens for free, so I won’t be too upset if it gets ruined. On the other, it’s still usable, but definitely has some undesirable artifacts.
Thanks for all the recs everyone. I’ll take a look at them. It doesn’t seem like there’s exactly something that’s a direct replacement for Day One Journal. But, maybe some of these could work as well.
logseq looks interesting. I’ll have a look at that and see if it does what I’m looking for. Thanks for that.
I’ll take a look. Thank you!
This is a very uniquely American moment 😂
