Not workable. Manhattan and London have viable alternatives to driving, namely, their transit systems. Your proposal doesn’t fix the last mile, which for Toronto, is especially egregious.
I like the thinking though.

Hey mate. I get it. I never fit into remote work, although I never experience as confronting of an incident as you.
Frankly, I would never have had the balls to invite ‘the lads’ back to a D&D game. I thought social ostracism would have been the LEAST of my worries. And I was in my 30s too. So hat off to you. If you get to Toronto, I’ll buy you a beer.

Anyone notice that Halifax is spelt 3 different ways in the article?
My personal favourite is Hailfox.

I agree. Ability for a third party / uncontrolled phone text to wipe my phone? No thanks

I have a spare device at home (an old nexus 5). If I ever render the FP 6 unusable, I can fall back to that while I wait for parts to be shipped from Europe.
Ultimately the shipping cost and wait time is the only real hurdle to being outside Europe.

I never dabbled with sideloading ROMs, my experience is just stock android.

I switched from pixel (originally a nexus user, then most models up to 6) to FP6. After using google phones for well over a decade, I won’t be going back. Anecdotally:
To summarise my experience, I was unconsciously dependent on certain Pixel functionality, and the switch was a little shock. But I feel much more capable with this phone and I certainly feel more control.
Good luck with the choice!
Atomic blonde, Charlize Theron nails it

Way to shoot the messenger there. Or are you also taking that pitchfork after Jassy?

You’re a knob, sweetie.

My man, why do you trust so easily? No source, no evidence, just empty words on a screen.
Be better.

Wow what another hot take. Still garbage.
Australia literally closed borders for years due to COVID (with bugger all disease internally). Immigration was effectively halted. Australia had the perfect opportunity to do exactly what you are saying… And did not.
The average increase in house purchase price, in all states, between 2020 and 2022 (i.e. while immigration pauses were effectively in place) immediately discredits your talking points.
Stop conflating immigration with the problem, which was, is, and remains, housing speculation.

Maybe spend less time confusing the issue, and take up a pitchfork against speculative home ownership.

Semantics.Your point - that immigration excerbates existing underlying problems - specifically ignores the underlying problem, which in OPs post, describes that housing is a locked / controlled asset (due to it being a speculative investment) , which has itself created an artificial shortage.
Maybe spend less time confusing the issue, and take up a pitchfork against speculative home ownership.
Because I’m afraid of continuance of GOP in unchecked power.
Opinion without merit. Dismissed just as easily.
With that attitude, writ large across different minorites (with competing values), we are condemned to suffer under the boot.
It is interesting to note that you have projected certain perspectives (e.g. abandoning trans) into my position. These words are not found, nor implied, in anything I’ve stated.
I will continue to rail against authoritarianism and fascism. You may blame me as much as you wish, and I hope you find some measure of fulfillment.
Just saw this on Lemmy. I didn’t even need to scroll. Please, keep telling me that Democrat are the worst choice.
Sooo high speed from Whitby to Toronto?
Biggest issue isn’t Joe Taxpayer who commutes from Peterborough to Toronto. It’s the person who commutes from King City to Bay St. Need a solution for satellite / feeder cities - high speed doesn’t suffice unfortunately
