2·2 years agoMy brother played the heck out of Uplink as a kid; thanks to him, I know about the UplinkOS mod, which makes the game (more) playable at higher resolutions. It looks to be an overhaul of the entire UX, so your mileage may vary, I guess.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you were tasked with putting together a message to send to space aliens, with the only restriction that the message had to be under 4GB, what would you send?English
15·2 years agoI would probably include an apology for using FAT32 and insist that we’ve made better filesystems since then.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which video game did you bounce off of at first, but then tried again later for it to become one of your favorites of all time?English
5·2 years agoSame here. I first played it in 2019 and was immediately terrified of the enemy machines. Since I’m the kind of person who doesn’t enjoy being stressed out for fun in any context, I pretty quickly bounced off of it. I also eventually realized that I saw death/game over in video games as irredeemable failure, and I’m working on being more accepting of trial and error (in video games and elsewhere in my life). I returned to it in early 2022, tried different strategies when I died, and realized that I loved the game. Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, and their DLCs are now among the very few games I have 100 percented.

No, I didn’t, and it’s not for lack of trying. I have a jank setup where I have one HDMI output directly to my TV (for VRR and 4K HDR) and another to my A/V receiver (for surround sound), with the latter needing to be enabled as a “dummy” monitor in order to have audio; this is in addition to my primary physical monitor, so the Meta-P shortcut is entirely out of the question for me, period. For the time being, I just have to manually enable/disable/position monitors.
