  • I wanted to be a race car driver. Literally had no other ambitions, that’s all I wanted, and I grew up being told I could be anything I wanted to be. Well we grew up homeless and I didn’t realise it was something only wealthy families could afford to support.

Turns out I couldn’t be anything I wanted to be.

I work in I.T. now. It’s fine, pays the bils. I built myself a pretty decent sim racing rig so although it’s not the same thing, it somewhat scratches the itch.

  • Again, Mojang has zero control over what websites host. And the British government has zero control over what websites host in other countries.

Yes the government can try to block access to certain websites, but as you’ve started, a VPN is an easy way to get around that.

But also if you think Minecraft mods are high up on the government’s radar, you’re not really thinking clearly.

Like, think it through… If I have a website that runs on server in Switzerland, serving a Minecraft mod, how the hell would Mojang know about it? How the hell are they gonna stop me? They can’t and they would be foolish to try. The British government can’t shut it down, they have no jurisdiction. Any attempts to try and block the UK population from accessing it would be thwarted by a VPN.

So while I agree the age verification stuff is stupid. You’re assuming it will prevent you from being able to use commands (highly unlikely), and your assuming Mojang will somehow take down websites they have no control over to prevent mods from changing this? And you’re also assuming the UK governments will care enough about Minecraft mods to block access to mod websites?

You’re making a lot of assumptions and literally none of them make any sense

  • I’m talking about mods that could allow running commands. Please re-read this comment chain.

Mods hosted on websites not based in the UK cannot be taken down by the UK government.

So yes, people in the UK have to abide by the age verification ( if they want social features, so you do have a choice). But people in the UK can also download and install any mod they want.

Age verification sucks, but at this point in time all we know is that it will be required for social features. Running commands, which seems to be your main concern, is not a social feature
