Was it even noticed or (in terms of backlash) how did it compare to when they tried the “New” Coke recipe?
No one liked new coke. New Pepsi was even worse, but Pepsi missed the boat on that one, they didn’t do the old switcheroo like coke did.
Then the “regular” flavors came back and everyone went on with their lives.
it wasn’t really a big deal as it was greatly overshadowed by the new coke debut which was around the same time. it got totally lost in the noise and part of me thinks that was by design–that part of new coke’s goal was to facilitate the change in sweetener. the ‘classic’ coke that emerged from the aftermath never did contain only sugar. the ‘original formula’ tagline on packaging and in adverts was a total lie.
I liked new Pepsi, personally.
Mexican Coke still uses sugar instead of fucktose
Basically they didn’t care about the sweetener switch. They were just happy to get the old recipe back. Can confirm l am an old guy that hated new Coke when it came out.
Sugar is a number one addiction, so as long as it was sweet probably they kept drinking it.
It went from being clean crisp Coke to being Pepsi in a coke bottle.
