Satan: He’s here.
I may be dumb but I don’t get it. From the comic strip alone it’s not clear why Satan is calling God and I have no idea what he did? “Is it because of” can mean a lot of different things. Idk, maybe it’s obvious and I’m just an idiot.
It’s a reference to a particularly shitty character from Full Metal Alchemist
Ah okay, I’m just not on the know. Thanks
I’ve watched this anime, read the manga, totally forgot about the character’s appearance and didn’t get the reference either. I was wondering if he was supposed to be some public figure who did something horrible to their wife, daughter, dog, and as usual I missed the news
He fuses his daughter and the family dog into this chimera.

He essentially kills his daughter and the dog to keep his job. He also killed his wife to get his job. Simple summary of the show.
Oh, that guy
Before I remembered about him, I thought it was Steve Jobs.
So the character in question is widely regarded as one of the most hated in all of anime…
Tap for spoiler
He was praised for creating a talking chimera, something that had never been done in alchemy before. Come to find out he used his wife in the experiment and then when his alchemy license was up for renewal he panicked as he had no notable achievements and then used his 5-6 year old daughter and family dog to create another one.
Me before exams
I still feel the hatred reading your summary of him.
Ah, thought he looked familiar.

So there was this anime called ‘fullmetal alchemist’.
The first scene is the then pre-teen main characters, two orphaned brothers, dismembered and splattered around the room after defying the laws of man and god in an attempt to resurrect their mother with illegal magic (the illegal impossible magic of the settings chemistry wizards is just organic chemistry. Organic chemistry is illegal and maybe cursed or ontologically evil or something) that went horribly wrong. It then cuts to a couple years later where the protagonist (now 14, and only diagetically glossing over the ‘child soldier’ of it all, as the absolute ruler of their vaguely Germanic central European military dictatorship is kind of a fatherly figure) with half his limbs prosthetic and his younger brother, a disembodied spirit bound to an old suit of armor, are working as military wizard-engineer maybe-counterintelligence are dismantling a cult in a city the state did some atrocities to a while back(also not glossed over. Lots of orphans, the local lady their dealing with us trauma-mute), and being kind of unnecessarily shitty about it. the audience finds out its part of a bigger conspiracy, and by the end of the episode a shapeshifter comes into town and replaces the cult leader they had exposed as a fraud and killed (claiming he was an imposter) the moment our heroes* leave.
This guy is from the episode where it becomes clear that the general tone of the show might be a little darker than previously suspected.
Satan asked the question without realizing who he was talking to. Shou Tucker’s response made him realize just who he was, and he was so bad that he needed to contact god for help.
This guy didn’t even advance alchemy.
They already knew you could make human chimeras. All of his research was just shitty busywork they already did at the fifth lab
from what I remember, his fake breakthrough was that his intelligent chimeras didn’t have any humans in them (they did).
This was essentially it. He conned people.
Actually yes, that might be it
I was not super into the show the first few episodes
This guy didn’t even advance alchemy.
Just like the real nazis’ human experiments didn’t gave us shit except, possibly, thalidomide.
He did advance Chimaera Research significantly and brought back a perfect soulless clone of his daughter back to life, though that never happened in Brotherhood
I only watched brotherhood
Ed… ward?
Edit: that downvote was deserved.
If you want people who know, to suffer, just randomly ask them “what does the dog say?”, and then answer that. If it has been long enough, they have forgotten, but will immediately remember again. Instant emotional damage.
Is this “Shou Tucker” that wide known?
I tried understanding this comic and wondered why you drew Lindsey Graham so young lol.

This is a reference to Full Metal Alchemist. It’s a fairly common reference, if you’ve ever seen “Ed… ward” or something like it, this is the same reference.
(Spoilers ahead) In the anime/manga, he’s studying how to create chimeras, and secretly, it’s going very poorly. In a desperate attempt to get his research to work, he fuses his adorable daughter and her dog, believing only humans can make intelligent chimeras. It’s also revealed he has prestige in the field only because his last successful chimera was made with his wife. It’s a tragic gut punch, and a rather infamous scene.
