The far-right coalition government is seeking to narrowly define the words “woman” and “man” in order to demonise and discriminate against transgender people.

If the fucking far right dedicated a tenth of the effort they put towards ruining LGBT people’s lives into any thing good for society, we would have cured cancer, solved inequality and conquered the milky way.

Their obsession with other people’s junk is incredible!

It won’t. Which is the point. The goal is to fuck everyone over who doesn’t fit in their neat little boxes and to distract from their other political choices

Why is it bad that man and women be defined by physiology? Are there other words that mean what the definitions in the article are? What are they?

Because trans people are intentionally going against their physiology.

Rigidly insisting that they are legally what they are pushing against is dehumanizing and will be used to discriminate against a group of people that is already a target for hate crime and profiling by law enforcement.

There is one area where that matters and it’s health care. Men and women’s treatments and care can differ substantially. It’s important to get it right. Gender affirming care/medicine is just a subset of that, for any individual.

But otherwise yeah it doesn’t matter.

Biological Sex isn’t changed with gender, and can be considered separately by medical staff.

Yeah, that’s the point. Why force people to change what it already means if it isn’t necessary?

Trans people have always existed so your argument would include, not exclude them.

Why does ambiguous intersex characteristics matter for defining binary genders? Why indeed?

“Why can’t we describe something as just A or B?”

“Here’s an article about A, B, and a whole bunch of things in between.”

              “WDYM?”

If you couldn’t look at the little chart in that article and figure out the whole thing is about how gender isn’t that simple, that’s on you. As a side note, most things are more complicated than people who aren’t in the field think they are. When that field is biology or society, it is almost always much more complicated than people think they are. If you don’t want to take the time to educate yourself on those things before forming your opinion, it will probably be the simple, and wrong, answer.
