For every single benefit the government offers to the common people, beginning from the ration to the dole to anything, the government ask for your biometric data. What is the reason behind such a rule ?
To ensure only citizens get the services I assume. India is a Social Democracy, they have things in place for citizens
To what extent is lndia a democracy ??
To the extent that the Indian government is elected. See Wikipedia for the gory details.
Are you serious?
About ??
Your question, a simple wiki search, or talking to an immigrant from India would inform you that India is the largest social democracy.
Let’s start off with the fundamentals : what do you understand by the term democracy ?
Dude just Google India and democracy, and their constitution document. I can’t have a nonsense conversation on the weekend. Sheesh
There lies the problem. You get your answers from Google. I’m breathing in lndia.
The BJP is rewriting the Constitution document. What do your coworkers say on this ??
Did you go through the contents of the photo ?? Isn’t it too naïve to assume anything ???
Do you know anything about the use of biometric data in computer sciences ???
Are you actually asking a question in your post, or just trying to lead the conversation?
What’s the harm in the latter ??
For starters, you’re being churlish to people who are trying to answer your question. You’re wasting time and effort of other people when you have no interest in the answer, and being insulting to boot. If you want to vent / criticise the govt, go right ahead, quit beating around the bush.
If people choose to sleep 😴😴💤💤💤, the choice is theirs.
Buddy, you’re on an international website. You seem to think you’re speaking to a bunch of fellow Indians.
I’m actually seeking to know more about what this biometric data is all about, and why would the government collect such data on a mass scale.
That’s a blurb about what biometric can be, but biometrics can also just be your finger prints or facial recognition for ID purposes.
For my BC services card and Digital ID they have my face image and short movie to ID me if I lose my phone, and have to reapply for the Digital ID.
Biometrics don’t always have to be nefarious
Biometric itself isn’t nefarious. I don’t trust them those who are enforcing it on every Tom, Dick, Harry.
My only point is that it should be voluntary !!
Because biometric data by the wrong company, or a leak can be dangerous, I tend to agree. But I think it is important for government services so that there is no abuse or double dipping, or sharing an ID card with a non citizen etc.
The word citizen is closely tied to the constitution. No constitution, no citizen. Period.
OK, so what’s your point?
They’re denying the citizens. They treat them as if they’re their subjects.
Do you know the difference between citizen and subject ???
