      While I’m sure the type of person being described here DOES exist, I have yet to see it. Any time an professional poster has a vague, say-nothing rant like this, I assume they came across it once and wanted to make a screenshotshottable tweet to advertise their blog.

      There is nothing of value here, no one is learning anything from a post like this. It says nothing beyond “this very niche opinion is a contradiction” and exists to get us angry at a strawman - and to let us know about the poster’s blog. Easily my least favorite type of political commentary.

        You definitely seem right that it’s more about getting attention for themselves, but I thought maybe the two women had some specific feud going lately, which I missed.

                Liberals cannot be “moved” left - all you’re going to end up with is a liberal that is now better equipped to cosplay as “leftist” while they de-radicalise the left and rob it of any relevance.

                You don’t have to believe me - there is nothing new about this.

                  Thanks. I ought to be used to it by now. It’s so common here. I’ve probably blocked 20 people for acting like this. And I try to avoid blocking anyone who acts even somewhat sane.

                  They are so out of touch with reality. It’s just insane to be so enraged at something like 99.999% of humans for not agreeing with their exact beliefs. It’s not good enough to believe in human rights, universal healthcare, that capitalism is toxic, etc. If you say one thing against them, you are a “liberal” which means a million different things but in a context like this I can only imagine it meaning “anything >.1% to what I consider my right”.

                Dangle that slender thread of hope, liberal - the days where your fundamentally oligarchic ideology was simply hidden away as normality has been crumbling away for a while now.

                The left has allowed right-wing ideologues to monopolise liberal-hatred - there’s no need to discuss the irony of it all, since we don’t have all day - but that’s something that can be fixed.

                After all, the Palestinians made a gigantic hole in one of liberalism’s holiest of cows - Zionism - back in 2023 and by doing so showed just how fragile liberal ideology truly is.

                Perhaps we should start making some holes of our own, yes?
