        Wikipedia is awesome. I’ve been posting weekly for over a year to !bmoviebonanza@lemmy.world and so far there’s only been like 1 movie that wasn’t on wikipedia.

        However, putting a lot of requirements might discourage posting here?

          Agreed. As long as you post the title and year, that should be plenty to let people find the movie themselves.

          A wiki and/or movie DB page is good if it’s particularly obscure, but shouldn’t be required.

            Yeah, sorry guys, I had nothing to do with this post. It was my lazy ass posting. It just wants to click a link and be taken to the movie info. It wasn’t me.

        As far as I know, Wikipedia doesn’t have a standardized way to upload details about films.

        Sites like themoviedb.org does and because of that it can be used as a scraper for media metadata.
