My cat is 22 and I let him do this now. He likes to drink the slow drip from the tap, and who I am I to say no to a cat who is about 110 in human years? I even run it slow for him now every once in a while and lift him up.
My cat likes to drink from people cups. Sometimes I “accidentally” leave one on the table for him to discover.
My orange gremlin loves hair ties. So, when one is old and about to be thrown out, I’ll accidentally drop one by him, and he goes nuts with it for a solid 15 minutes. It’s akin to catnip to that little weirdo, he hunts them down in the house if a fresh one is put somewhere within reach.
Just FYI (and I’m sure you’re careful/keeping watch) if your little orange gremlin accidentally swallows one & you live in the US, it is a COSTLY surgery to fix.
My Shiba Inu ate one a few years ago, it wrapped around her intestines, and it cost us $10K (and then another $5K when she ripped her stitches out a week later. Thank fuck for Care credit T.T)
Just a warning because I don’t want anyone else to experience that kinda stress!
Yes, it’s definitely supervised play only. He just loves to be a hunter and “catch” them.
Old kitty is probably too set in their ways to change, but a lot of cats enjoy a water fountain for the same running water effect. If you don’t want future cats to go on the counter as much.
He has a fountain, but when did cats ever do the thing you want them to?

I know, kitty. I see your paw prints on the aluminum foil the internet told me would deter you and didn’t at all :)
“My butt has been places that you never want to learn about.”
“That’s fine, because I’m not here to see it!”
