Some workers who have soured on the 9-to-5 schedule are interested in trying "microshifting," which may offer greater flexibility and control over their time.
Am I wired in that I myself personally don’t like these “flexible schedules” systems?
Not disregarding them entirely as no doubt for others it’s a benefit.
But for myself I honestly prefer having a set consistent schedule. Preferably the weekend (and only because of what the job I have weekends is the busy time compared to weekdays.)
Most people just want to be able to work their way and only be judged on the work done. If for you that means you still want a strict 9-5 or whatever then go ahead. They’re not trying to stop your ability to do that.
Not everyone is the same and I think that’s the point. Everyone has different personal lives. Some people have ill family members that need extra care, some people have kids, etc.
Totally fair it doesn’t work for you. There’s a lot of talk about neurodivergency these days too and likely part of it. Different people’s brains also work differently, of course.
I’m all for flexibility. It’s truly a simple problem - you’re expected to complete a certain amount of something during a day, you have deadlines. Does it matter how or when it gets done as long as it’s done on time?

It’s all just managing expectations.
