As abortions are outlawed more and more, expect this to continue.

As for adoption, take the amount of abortions and child deaths/abuse per year and assume 18 years of care for each year of kids. Last time I did the calculations it equalled a mid size city of kids that would require massive infrastructure investment.

Some people shouldn’t have kids, and it’s definitely the kids that suffer that the most.

Now I’m not saying what the solution is. Just that this is the result of our current domestic policies.

why don’t these people just put their kid up for adoption? i can accept someone not wanting to be a parent… but other people do! why torture a child to death?
and how do psychopaths find each other?
i just want to know what kind of fucked up psychology would make someone do that… and continue to do that

You’re not wrong, but the adoption system is fucked. You can have as many children as you want, and you MIGHT lose them if people notice their care is poor. You have to jump through so many hoops to adopt.

Imagine having the ability to choose your childs age and you pick the objectively worst and least interesting age. People 🤦

i was a foster kid once… my ex wife was a foster kid her whole childhood… i’ve lived on the streets and met several foster kid runaways
we definitely need more sane, well adjusted, foster parents… foster homes (formerly orphanages) are pretty terrible.
many foster parents just foster kids for the extra money….
it seems like there’s zero hoops to being a foster parent… tons of hoops to adopt a baby.
a lot of times beings foster parent is temporary.
with me, my father was crazy and my mother was put in jail for “child stealing” me and my brother to escape my crazy father… so the court put us in foster care temporarily.
i don’t know if they abused us, but they did shave our heads for no good reason.

Unfortunately, there’s still hoops to jump through to be a foster parent, many of which are subjective assessments. It’s really easy for shitty people to pretend to be whatever the assessment person is looking for when they’re motivated by money and lack morals. It’s a lot harder when you make an effort to be genuine and the assessment person doesn’t like some way in which you don’t match the mold they’re wanting. I know a couple who tried to jump through the hoops to adopt a 16yo queer kid. Amazing parents. The person who interviewed them was very conservative Christian and didn’t like that they planned to respect the kid’s identity. Needless to say, they didn’t get approved as foster parents.

i wonder if that was the 16 year old queer kid who ran away from the foster home who asked if he could sleep next to us for safety….
we were just drunk, and apparently not scary….
i wonder about him sometimes, he told me his story….
what really sucks is those kids are super afraid of the police, because they’ll be instantly arrested and brought back to the foster home in virginia or wherever.
and then people like me want to help, but also don’t want to get charged for corrupting some runaway kid (we let him sleep next to us, he was gone before we woke up… and no i didn’t give him alcohol or anything)
i’ve met probably 5 different minor foster runaways in my days being homeless… well probably a lot more at the rainbow gathering (it’s a hippie gathering not a gay one, they started before the rainbow flag thing was a thing… but there are plenty of gay people there)

Probably not psychopaths. Probably, poor and uneducated who have lived a life of trauma. If you really want to know understand, get out and volunteer or work in social welfare.

its probably harder to do than you thought, you have go through the court system. also they might find neglect and get charged while in court, and can take some time to “disown” a child.
