When I’m using Android Auto, my phone will intermittently lose cell signal. It doesn’t happen all the time. Sometimes I’ll go weeks or months without it happening, then other times it will happen several times in a single trip.

There have been a couple times when the phone seemed to be acting up before it completely lost the signal. The only way to recover is to restart the phone.

It has never happened when not using Android Auto.

It happens in my current car, a 2022 Honda Ridgeline with wired android auto support. I recently bought a wireless adapter for the car, and it happens with that as well. It also happens when my phone is plugged into our 2020 Honda Civic.

It happened with my previous phones when I was using Android Auto in my 2011 Honda Ridgeline which only had an aftermarket Bluetooth adapter.

Current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S10. Previous phone was an LG Nexus 5x.

It seems that the only common issue is Android Auto.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I hate to be that guy, but that phone is knocking on a bit now and while I know the “if it works don’t replace it” mantra is 👌it might be the cause of your issues?

It’s on Android 12 I take it, and maybe have a poke around Googles to see if you’re missing components which are causing it.

Something else occured to me - do you use a cable to connect (I don’t even own a car so have absolutely no idea about AA…) it and have you tried another if so?

      Thanks for your reply.

It’s always happened, even when the phone was brand new, and it happened with the previous phone as well.

I have used a cable to connect to the port on the car in the past, and I’ve give through several cables.

One of the most frustrating parts about this issue is when googling I just get lots of advice about how to connect Android Auto, nothing about losing signal when Android Auto is active.

I just tried googling again, and the results are all about the phone losing the connection to the car, not the phone losing the cellular connection.

Bummer, and sorry I can’t be of much more help since I’ve never actually used AA. I can always poke someone I do know who uses it though, and see what they think 😇

I was just in the apps control looking to check if there were any permissions I could fiddle with for Android Auto, and I noticed “Android Auto for Phone Screens” was still installed.

That was the version that worked when you didn’t have support in your car, but it’s been disabled by Google for years. I didn’t even realize it was still installed. I’m taking a shot in the dark and uninstalled it to see if maybe it was somehow interfering.

Probably not, but it’s not like I have much else to try.

Unfortunately, the issue is intermittent. It sometimes is fine for months. So, the only way to know if it’s fixed is to wait long enough to be certain it isn’t going to happen again.
