Probably the best part was this weekend.

No inlaws, no work, no things to be done by / at a certain time.

Had about 10 hours sleep the other day…

Got some chores done, took a crate of bottles to the recycling as it looks like we’re a pub outside our house from the 2~3 weeks of xmas drinking

And now… work starts again tomorrow. 🎉

Sounds like a great weekend! It’s such a great feeling when there’s no chores to do and no responsibilities! These moments are so incredibly rare for me that I end up feeling guilty when I do take advantage of them!

Yeah, exactly… was probably 11am when I had that feeling that I should be doing something else…

Mind you… too many days like that and I’d go mad and do something crazy… I really do not know how people cope with retirement.

Last few days have been quiet after all the family hubhub the week before, which was nice. Caught up with some software projects, some general DIY, and have suped up the home security for my mum’s place (camera’s literally everywhere)

Watched all the Blade films, and found this musical gem of Massive attack feat. Mos Def in the credits. (Wesley Snipes is a way better actor/martial artist than he gets credit for)

Back to work tomorrow, and it’s gonna be a lot I just know it, but at least I’ve got a good song to start the year with

Spent most of the time with the family, as relaxing as it can be with two young kids!

Been visiting my dad a lot, he’s out of hospital now (was discharged just before Christmas) and is in a care home for rehabilitiation due to his poor mobility. It’s a 30 minute drive away though which is a pain in the arse; the hospital was just 5 minutes away. But, he seems to be getting better and is handling being in the care home much better than I anticipated. I think having lots of company and help with basic things is really changing his mind.

I’ve been playing Satisfactory in the nights after the kids have gone to bed. It’s the first game I’ve got addicted to in… well probably well over a decade.

We’ve been watching the TV show “Shetland” over the holidays - amazing how many murders such a tiny place can endure!

Was back at work on Friday which felt very strange.

I’ve also started running again after having the long-term flu. I’ve decided to take two days rest between runs, as my calves are still being a bit of an arse, however I did a load of recovery exercises yesterday immediately after my run and today my legs are feeling better than they would have. So fingers crossed! Otherwise it’ll be more trips to the physio.

Not the farthest I’ve done, but pretty far - Kent to Dorset. We’re very fortunate that the new boss has offered to help out by attending a viewing on our behalf, saves on travel. She hasn’t even signed the contract yet but he’s already been more supportive than her last boss ever was. So, I don’t mind the distance at all. Optimism is in the air, for the moment.

Yeah alright cheers dude, how was yours?

I’ve felt gash for the whole week, especially between Christmas and New year. Not enough to keep me home from work, but enough to ruin my days. I can only imagine I’ve had this bout of the flu going round, but the flu jab has just taken the edge off it.

But yeah, snow’s getting old now, it needs to fuck off cheers

Yep, that’s how I felt before Christmas. The flu initially wiped me out, but then after the main fever I had this constant lethargy that I couldn’t shake for about 3 weeks. Luckily it went away just before Christmas!

After multiple times of trying, finally got tickets to the Inside No9 theatre show and went yesterday, one of the best things I’ve seen in a very long time, laugh out loud funny and the perfect ending to one of my favourite shows.

But I’m now suffering with a cold and back to work tomorrow :(
