In Greece and in other Balkan countries there’s folklore about a small demon/goblin-type of creature, called the kallikantzaros, which is coming out and making a mess during the 12 days of Christmas. On my side of Greece, Epirus, the women don’t put laundry out to dry during these 12 days, otherwise they will supposedly come and steal it. Painted with Royal Talens gouache.

Interesting, there is a similar folklore in central Europe. My mother often told me that you are not supposed to wash things in the Raunächte (‘raw nights’) during the year change. But here it is the wild hunt that took your bed lining instead of goblins.
