He has had some trouble with SAG in the past, I dunno about the cult thing. He’s not a Scientologist.

He’s part of the Christian sect of the sick and demented Yahweh cult that’s been terrorising the world for well over a thousand years.

Oh that cult… I mean, just call him a religious freak and it won’t confuse people.

In the episode, Van takes Lottie to accompany her to a TV studio run by a private and mysterious person known as “Mr. Chocolate” (who is played by Glover). When Mr. Chocolate takes an interest in using Lottie for more productions, Van sets out to prevent her daughter from being exploited.

        […]

Critics and viewers analyzed the episode’s parody of Tyler Perry, who served as the basis for Mr. Chocolate.

Anyone that tries as hard as him to have a squeaky clean family friendly image is sus to me. Bill Cosby is another great example.

It’s standard practice for lawsuits to initially ask for a lot in the hopes that the defendant settles for a fraction of the initial lawsuit… then the lawyers will take a big chunk after that.

I don’t understand why this isn’t in criminal court. It does feel like a cash grab.

Also innocent until proven guilty guys…I’m not a fan of his movies and maybe he’s had some union issues before but that doesn’t automatically make him a sexual deviant.

The state could separately bring criminal charges. Also, the standard in civil court is preponderance of evidence (more likely than not) rather than beyond a reasonable doubt. It’s much easier to meet that in civil court, especially for sexual assault.

Plus a high profile civil case is more likely to get in the news and actually Kickstart criminal investigations.
