I get this. As an adult your calling the economic shots. My wife and I in a necessities only survival mode but when times have been better we will tend to get things we need or want as it goes discussing it a bit if its something priced at a significant level (something on the level of a tank of gas or an electric bill). We don’t get things if our budget does not allow so anything gift wise would be things that we should not be spending on or just avoiding getting something and earmarking it as a holiday gift. Then again we always laugh at the shows where the person is upset at getting a nice new vaccum. When we have been in better situations getting like a remodeling done is like, ok this is christmass for everyone for like the next three years.
