I’m trying to wrap my head around the following:

what caused the first general seizure in the first episode? Were all already infected and acted normal until that point in time? Or the “virus” was already in each human but not yet activated but in some selected individuals?
I didn’t watch nor read any commentary, so I don’t know if there is a plain explanation already clear to everybody :)

Yeah, my interpretation was that the planes overhead were spraying aerosolized virus so thick over every city that the entire populace couldn’t help but start breathing it in en masse, and the seizures were a side effect of infection.
That could be it, but I don’t know if that would explain how world-synchronized it was… and the airplane pilots would also be affected, right?
I think pilots were already infected, otherwise they wouldn’t spray virus on everyone.
Yeah I agree, but the seizure seems to be global each time it happens, so they should be out, too. OR there is an alternative kind of seizure that affects just the newly infected individuals, but in that case it would be strange that it’s that much synchronized when it happens (aerosols would affect people outside faster than ones in buildings for example)
I think that there are indeed two types of seizures. Some time had already passed before Carol went into the bar, so people inside could be infected a bit later then Helen.

I’m not sure its a virus. Instead it’s a signal/waveform from space that affects brains.

the seizures, all of them, is a collective adjustment reacting to collective policy adjustment.
The first seizure event, imo then, is the assimilation into the collective.
I’m not sure how you came to the conclusion from your first point. Man on TV said, that signal contained RNA sequence, which was used to create virus / psychic glue.
