I’ve owned 3 Arizer Airs. The original with no screen, and two Air 2s with the OLED screen. All of them have failed after 2-3 years with “Error 5”. I tried fixing them but never got anywhere. I took them apart, cleaned them, shook them around, introduced percussive maintenance, and all other advice I found on forums and the other site.

At this point I’m done with Arizer. This is a design flaw that hasn’t been addressed. I want something that lasts. I loved the simplicity and low maintenance of the Arizer product line. I like removable batteries. Vapour quality was also neat.

What should I replace this with?

No experience with the Air, but my Airizer Solo 2 is my most reliable vape by a wide margin. Going for many years now, just as good as new. No removable batteries though. My understanding is that the 3 is great as well.

Other premium options might be the TinyMight 2 or one of the Storz & Bickels. Maybe even dynavaps and a heater if you’re mostly vaping at home, that’s really my daily driver.

DynaVap and a good induction heater is a solid and very efficient combo. I built a pinky ball vape that is my primary driver now but ball vape components are cheap enough to skip the DIY. I really like this combo for home/away.

I have used Firewoods since the Firewood 5. They’re a Statesian company if that makes a difference. Best customer service of any company I’ve dealt with. You can buy replacement parts and send your vape in for service for minimal charge if it needs it. I’ve got a 5 as my backup, a 7, and my daily driver right now is my Firewood 9. The wood around the chamber is cherry so it smells delicious too I’m a little bit of a wood geek. I use the smaller bowls and got the set of 3 replacement ones so I can load up 4 and be ready for the afternoon, like how with the 5 you can load up 5 bowls and be ready for work. The vape quality is great but I don’t have much to compare it to.

I’ve got a FW4, and it’s still in rotation. Take off the “cooling unit” and it mates perfectly with a GonG 10m adapter for bong rips. Great piece, and would definitely get one again.

i have only one complaint about the 5 and that’s that you don’t get all the way to the edge of the bowl. my 7, there was a problem with the battery chamber wiring that kept going bad but i loved the way it worked. my 9 i dropped once and broke and had to send back for repairs. marc had it back to me under a month. oh my i love the way that thing smells. i had to buy one of those hydrosonic cleaner thingies to clean the mouthpieces properly but damn it’s great.

If you’re not married to the whole session vape thing I highly recommend taking a look at Dynavap’s lineup. The only parts that could break are the screen and the cap. The cap has the only moving part in the whole assembly and the screen is a somewhat fragile piece of steel or titanium that could break when you disassemble it for cleaning. Both aren’t overly expensive to replace.

FWIW this couldn’t be more different than my experience with their Solo models. I had a Solo I up until I tried a 3rd party bubbler attachment which was 1) very stupid of me, 2) failed and dumped water into the unit. The Solo II I’ve had has been working flawlessly with almost daily use for, gosh, going on 5 years now?

It shows no sign of wear and I hardly ever clean the thing, I’ve cleaned with with alcohol swabs maybe twice. Arizer even gave me a discount on the II after I broke my Solo I arguably myself.

My buddy has the III and loves it, for whatever that’s worth.

I know thats not exactly the kind of recommendation you were looking for, sorry for that, just thought I’d share my experience if it’s at all helpful.

Then you’ve been quite lucky because I’ve had 3 units fail to error 5 and so have many other people if you search it. Glad yours hasn’t caused you any issues
