Not sure if this is appropriate to this example, but these paper/cardboard wrappings can save on plastic: The inner container can be made thinner and is generally easier to recycle, as there is no need for printability or pretty finishes (not saying that they are being recycled, but they could).

The box that the bottle comes in is clearly labeled with steps how to take the paper casing off to recycle. It is even precut to separate that way. The company claimed at the time to have reduced its plastic by 50% this way.

Besides, how would an all-paper bottle even work? Liquid soap is, well, liquid. Paper soaks through when it’s in contact with a liquid. The only other way to do such a bottle would be to use coated paper, which is less recyclable than an inner plastic bottle.

I see, the garbage man charm is a global thing. People in the house where i live overfill the bin, every time. The garbage men just throw everything above the lid on the floor, every time.

Can’t fault them for this though. The ones that overfill the bin couldn’t care less and even step over their own trash, to throw new trash in the bin. Other neighbors end up putting their overfilled trash from last week in the bin.

I am aware of waxed cardboard. I dismissed it because I thought that relying solely on it to store a liquid sounded a bit too ambitious. But it might work so yeah, I should have considered it.

Im an extremest “No the glass is at precisely half capacity. I meticulously found a geometric proof to show its the fill line is exactly at half of the glass. I counted the fucking molecules one at a time and statistically compared them with a full glass and a empty glass. Its half, no more no less. Both of your perceptions of the world are deeply warped by internal biases.” Kind of guy myself. Or in Lemmy speak, a FiLtHy CeNtaRist!!!
