I mean it makes sense, the Pro 2’s JUST released a little while ago and some people will want to go full USB-C as soon as the iPhone does. In fact I’m a little impressed with Apple, we will see if the Keyboard and Mouse follow suit.
Maybe the next mouse’s usb port will just be placed on the left mouse button.

As an owner of a few apple magic mice and two of the giant trackpads, fuck everything about placing the charging port on the UNDERSIDE OF THE MOUSE. apple, there is a perfectly good location for the port. Front towards pc. Period. Put a usb-c cable there and let me use it while charging.
I actually prefer the older ones that run on AAs for my print room mac.
All that being said, razer naga pro for gaming. Loads of buttons, lots of macros.
Still have one of those, but I prefer the lightning one - to each their own. The plug in the front would work, but occasionally checking on battery status makes either location moot. When you see it’s at 25% or so, just plug it in before bed.
To me, this argument is less about the connector placement and more about users not watching over or caring about their tools.
If your lithium batteries run down below 10%, you’re damaging the batteries and they’ll reduce their possible SOC. It’s just like an EV in that way.
I prefer to leave it plugged in when the lithium battery inevitably dies, since replacement is annoying and difficult.
I leave my trackpad plugged in for the same reason. I need my mouse to not be another device that needs babysitting.
Why would they? The new gen just came out. They have at least another year or two before they make any changes.
I expect that they’ll release new AirPods that come with a USB-C case, and also have the case itself for sale for those with Lightning cases that want to switch when they get an iPhone 15. Like how they did when they introduced wirelesss charging for the regular AirPods a while back.
Meh. I don’t even use the plus I just put the on my MagSafe charger now and then.
Same. Once a week or so I just pop it on the MagSafe to top it back up. Originally, I was waiting for USB-C but my regular AirPods were going out so I upgraded. Then I realized I never plug in the Pros, they charge so nicely wirelessly.
So, one could theoretically upgrade the case alone and keep the same earbuds?
Now part of me wants to wait for USB-C. The other part of me knows I have a lightning phone that I’ll be keeping for 3 more years. I feel like maybe lightning would be better until I get a USB-C phone.
