The advice given here is really great, and I agree with it. Stick with client since you can only see one side of the mountain. If you are able to get a node at the top of the mountain that can see both sides, then you can consider using router mode, but only after coordinating with anybody in the local area.

Technology@lemmy.world•Australia social media ban hits 4.7 million teen accounts in first monthEnglish
1·4 天前Isn’t Australia the totalitarian state where you must verify your identity to use social media? If so, then just saying you’re older won’t work. If not, then the law is completely pointless.

17·6 天前By out in the middle of nowhere, you would have to not be able to connect to any carrier network at all. If you are a Verizon customer and can’t get Verizon signal, but you can see an AT&T tower, you will connect to it to make 911 calls, or a T-Mobile tower, if that’s the one you can see. It doesn’t matter. Every carrier has to carry 911 calls for every other carrier.

9·6 天前I have not done so yet, but I’m going to set up a few of my family members with nodes, but I’m going to get them one of those helltec mesh pocket nodes since it’s also a phone backup battery. That way they’ll be likely to actually carry it with them.

8·8 天前For me, if I can’t control it with Home Assistant, it does not go in my house. I have smart plugs and I’m getting a smart thermometer and they are all badged for the Works with Home Assistant program so that they can be used even if the company goes out of business. I will buy nothing else.

1·8 天前Nah we won’t boil our atmosphere because we will launch rockets to the moon and produce shades on the moon and put them at the Earth Sun Lagrange point and cool the earth down that way. So our ravenous use of energy will give us the energy to fix the problem.
That’s with Bluetooth connected to my phone, with GPS off and RX boosted gain turned on. I got 2 days and 19 hours out of it. With RX boosted gain and GPS both off, I got 3 days and 5 hours.
I would still turn off RX Boosted Gain. Just doing that saves a lot of battery and doesn’t affect your received sensitivity all that much.
If you disable RX Boosted Gain and GPS, I’ve gotten 3 days and 7 hours out of mine at maximum.

With that said, I’ve noticed that OSM does not have a lot of addresses, especially for residential areas, so I would recommend pairing that with gps-coordinates.net two convert street addresses into GPS coordinates.
Not really possible. Ditch Instagram.

1·10 天前The actual firmware itself? I’m not actually sure.
It’s a portable device, so I always run mine in client mute, so it’s not retransmitting other packets, because it’s kind of pointless to do so with such a small antenna.
At the moment, unfortunately, no. General average is about 5 to 10 nodes.

Thank you. I gave that community a subscribe because I want to use a Linux phone at some point in the future.
The big thing I have to make sure of is accessibility as I am a low vision user who requires the use of screen magnification at the very minimum and a screen reader is preferred for text such as articles and websites.
