Formula 1@lemmy.world•Ferrari confirms Hamilton will have a new race engineer for 2026English
8·9 days agoIt really would be the fairytale ending for his career in my eyes but after last year I’m being a lot more… realistic with myself.

2·9 days agoYep, I think enough people have caught on and called out teams over the years that they’ve changed their verbiage to be more honest.

5·9 days agoHonestly, I’m all for it. Love seeing Dakar get more attention. I’ve been following it closely for the past three years, and the 2026 edition has been really great.

Nvidia@lemmy.zip•NVIDIA Reportedly Ends GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Production, RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB NextEnglish
1·9 days agoUpdate from Asus added to the article:
“We would like to clarify recent reports regarding the ASUS GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB. Certain media may have received incomplete information from an ASUS PR representative regarding these products. The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB have not been discontinued or designated as end-of-life (EOL). ASUS has no plans to stop selling these models. Current fluctuations in supply for both products are primarily due to memory supply constraints, which have temporarily affected production output and restocking cycles. As a result, availability may appear limited in certain markets, but this should not be interpreted as a production halt or product retirement. ASUS will continue to support the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and is working closely with partners to stabilize supply as conditions improve.”

Those are… bigger than I expected them to manage; I wonder how much variance we’ll see between teams.

31·9 days agoIt’s a step in the right direction at least, and the explicit requirement to notify/ask users for consent is good for the sake of awareness. GM’s OnStar has been an insane source of data either way.

Exactly, and similar to the Ferrari bonus pay, it’s just become difficult to address at this point, so everyone kind of accepts it.

Formula 1@lemmy.world•Gluck: Indy 500 showdown shows F1 flying too close to the motorsports sun (Paywall, full article in comments)English
1·8 months agoThat’s fair, the whole “pit wall” concept in American motorsports is interesting, has its pros and cons. Because of race length (and considering the amount of full throttle on ovals) refueling is pretty necessary, but in general, pit lane safety can be rough. Indy is also one of the most narrow oval pit lanes, despite the size of everything else at that track.
That being said, don’t look at Nascar lol. I’ve been watching it for 5-6 years now and the pit lane safety standards still irk me a lot.

Formula 1@lemmy.world•Gluck: Indy 500 showdown shows F1 flying too close to the motorsports sun (Paywall, full article in comments)English
2·8 months agoYeah it would never be shortened lol. I was also not really sold on the 500 when I first started watching it some years back, but over time I’ve grown to appreciate the race (and all of the practice and qualifying sessions leading up to it) more and more. I get it though.
More than anything else, I’m bummed that I can’t sit down for the entire day and go from watching Monaco to the Indy 500 to the Coke 600. It’s become a tradition for me and many others I know.
That being said, it’s been really interesting to see some less American perspectives via this thread. Tbh I thought Indycar might have more value outside the US considering the variety of driver nationalities, especially with how many former F2 and F1 drivers are in their field.

Exactly. Makes it all the more fairytale lol
